TTA – TRAVEL TALES AWARD collabora anche quest’anno con il festival Colornophotolife, partner prestigioso che ci affianca fin dalla prima edizione.

Tutte le mostre del festival apriranno da sabato 26 settembre, come da programma del festival.

Nel 2026, per festeggiare i primi 5 anni del TTA e il focus del festival Colornophotolife che quest’anno è proprio sul viaggio, abbiamo pensato di raddoppiare la nostra presenza, e in accordo con il patron del Festival Gigi Montali TTA porta a Colorno non una ma DUE mostre!

La prima Mostra,  TTA 2021-2025 WINNERS OVER ALL, porta a Colorno i 5 lavori vincitori assoluti delle scorse edizioni, lavori che spaziano in tutto il mondo e che sono un ottimo esempio di come la fotografi autoriale di viaggio sia evocativa e potente.

Alain Schroeder con Muay Thai Kids story, vincitore assoluto TTA 2025

Lontano dalle destinazioni turistiche iconiche della Thailandia, l’Isaan, la regione più grande del regno, si estende a nord e a est fino ai confini del Laos e della Cambogia. La povertà costringe molti residenti a cercare lavoro a Bangkok, ma temendo le tentazioni della vita cittadina (droga, bande, prostituzione…), i bambini vengono spesso lasciati alle cure dei nonni.   Per tenerli lontani dai guai, e con la prospettiva di guadagnare soldi per mantenere la famiglia, i bambini vengono iscritti alla Muay Thai (l’arte marziale tradizionale della boxe thailandese che è lo sport nazionale del paese) già a 5 anni, e possono competere a 6-7 anni.

Rosario Lo Presti con Blues in the night, vincitore assoluto TTA 2024

Il reportage, realizzato nel 2023, si propone di catturare le atmosfere del festival del blues che si svolge nel Delta del Mississippi: attraverso le tappe del viaggio nel delta del Mississippi, da Memphis a Clarksdale ad Helena, fino all’arrivo a Jackson tutto riporta alle radici profonde della musica blues e la sua connessione con la storia e la cultura del luogo.

Il Delta del Mississippi, nonostante la sua bellezza intrinseca, è oggi uno delle zone più povere dell’America, una realtà che aggiunge un ulteriore strato di significato e complessità alle immagini notturne. ‘Blues in the night’ rappresenta un inno visivo al potere unificante della musica, alla bellezza di un luogo che non si vuole arrendere e che continua a cantare la propria anime blues.

Jacopo Della Valle con WATERWORLD, vincitore assoluto TTA 2023

Al largo delle coste delle Filippine, della Malesia e dell’Indonesia vivono i Bajau, popoli indigeni, nomadi e apolidi, noti anche come zingari del mare. Diffidenti, perché abituati a vivere isolati, spesso vengono trattati con indifferenza o denunciati perché considerati immigrati illegali sulla terraferma, in realtà non sono riconosciuti da nessuno Stato e non hanno diritti fondamentali.

In passato si muovevano liberamente nei mari del Sud-est asiatico, mentre oggi sono più sedentari, ma vivono ancora strettamente legati al mare in piccoli palafitti di legno costruiti sulle acque basse o su barche chiamate “lepas”, lontano dalla terraferma e dalla sua società. Hanno una conoscenza senza pari dell’Oceano e la loro vita scorre lentamente, segnata dai ritmi delle maree.

Controlli più rigidi, un graduale declino della fauna marina e le restrizioni sulla loro mobilità stanno mettendo a rischio la sopravvivenza di Bajau, ma trasferirsi sulla terra e abbandonare il loro stile di vita non è ancora un’opzione.

Younes Mohammad con Chaldoran, vincitore assoluto TTA 2022
Quattro secoli fa, dopo la guerra caldea e la sconfitta dei Safavi contro gli ottomani, i curdi furono gradualmente e con la forza sfollati e più di 50.000 famiglie del Khurasan Kurmanji si diressero verso i confini orientali dell’Iran per proteggere i confini dagli uzbeki ma dopo la fine delle guerre i curdi sfollati sono rimasti bloccati in quei confini e non hanno potuto tornare nel loro territorio, da allora i loro discendenti vivono nel nord dell’Iran e vicino al confine del Turkmenistan.
In questo progetto artistico, studierò alcune delle conseguenze di questo esodo forzato che è stato imposto ad alcune famiglie curde da Safavi in ​​Iran.

Maurizio Trifilids, con Guizhou, vincitore assoluto TTA 2021

Il Guizhou è una regione rurale della Cina, dove  tuttora l’agricoltura costituisce  la base essenziale dell’economia locale. Una regione che vede la presenza di molti piccoli villaggi le cui tradizioni e abitudini stanno si cambiando ma più lentamente rispetto ad altre parti del paese.

Ciò che più ha colpito l’autore in questi piccoli villaggi è stata la facilità del rapporto umano con chiunque abbiamo incontrato.  Superando spesso a gesti o con l’aiuto della guida la barriera della lingua, quando abbiamo bussato a una porta ci è stato sempre aperto e Maurizio ha potuto fotografare quanto non mai le persone, sempre ospitali e disponibili, pronti a offrirti una sigaretta, un thè o una parte del loro pranzo, all’interno delle loro abitazioni.

TTA – TRAVEL TALES AWARD collaborates again this year with Colornophotolife festival, a prestigious partner that has supported us since the first edition.

In 2026, to celebrate the first 5 years of the TTA and the focus of the Colornophotolife festival which this year is precisely on travel, we have decided to double our presence, and in agreement with the patron of the Festival Gigi Montali TTA brings not one but TWO exhibitions to Colorno!

The first exhibition,  TTA 2021-2025 WINNERS OVER ALL, brings to Colorno the 5 absolute winning works of the past editions, works that range all over the world and are an excellent example of how authorial travel photography is evocative and powerful.

Far from Thailand’s iconic tourist destinations, Isaan, the kingdom’s largest region, stretches north and east to the borders of Laos and Cambodia. Poverty forces many residents to look for work in Bangkok, but fearing the temptations of city life (drugs, gangs, prostitution…), children are often left in the care of their grandparents.   To keep them out of trouble, and with the prospect of earning money to support their families, children are enrolled in Muay Thai (the traditional martial art of Thai boxing which is the country’s national sport) as early as 5 years old, and can compete at 6-7 years old.

Rosario Lo Presti with Blues in the night, overall winner TTA 2024

The reportage, made in 2023, aims to capture the atmosphere of the blues festival that takes place in the Mississippi Delta: through the stages of the journey in the Mississippi Delta, from Memphis to Clarksdale to Helena, up to the arrival in Jackson everything leads back to the deep roots of blues music and its connection with the history and culture of the place.

The Mississippi Delta, despite its intrinsic beauty, is now one of the poorest areas of America, a reality that adds an extra layer of meaning and complexity to the night images. ‘Blues in the night’ represents a visual hymn to the unifying power of music, to the beauty of a place that does not want to give up and that continues to sing its blues soul.

Jacopo Della Valle with WATERWORLD, overall winner TTA 2023

Off the coasts of the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia live the Bajau, indigenous, nomadic and stateless peoples, also known as sea gypsies. Distrustful, because they are used to living in isolation, they are often treated with indifference or denounced because they are considered illegal immigrants on the mainland, but in reality they are not recognized by any state and have no fundamental rights.

In the past they moved freely in the seas of Southeast Asia, while today they are more sedentary, but they still live closely linked to the sea in small wooden stilts built on shallow waters or on boats called “lepas”, far from the mainland and its society. They have an unparalleled knowledge of the Ocean and their lives flow slowly, marked by the rhythms of the tides.

Tighter controls, a gradual decline in marine wildlife, and restrictions on their mobility are putting Bajau’s survival at risk, but moving to land and abandoning their way of life is not yet an option.

Younes Mohammad with Chaldoran, overall winner TTA 2022

Four centuries ago, after the Chaldean War and the defeat of the Safavi against the Ottomans, the Kurds were gradually and forcibly displaced and more than 50,000 families from Khurasan Kurmanji headed to the eastern borders of Iran to protect the borders from the Uzbeks but after the end of the wars the displaced Kurds were stuck in those borders and could not return to their territory,  since then their descendants live in northern Iran and near the border of Turkmenistan.In this artistic project, I will study some of the consequences of this forced exodus that has been imposed on some Kurdish families from Safavi to Iran.

Maurizio Trifilids, with Guizhou, overall winner TTA 2021

Guizhou is a rural region of China, where agriculture is still the essential basis of the local economy. A region that sees the presence of many small villages whose traditions and habits are changing but more slowly than in other parts of the country.

What struck the author most in these small villages was the ease of human relationship with everyone we met.  Often overcoming the language barrier with gestures or with the help of the guide, when we knocked on a door it was always open to us and Maurizio was able to photograph more than ever the people, always hospitable and helpful, ready to offer you a cigarette, tea or a part of their lunch, inside their homes.
