Work, fatigue, the unhealthy environment in which the women of Myanmar (formerly Burma) live, are the theme of my photographic journey in that land.
A theme that has imposed itself with all the drama of the apparently impassive gazes of women who seem to be eternal figures in an exotic and enigmatic mosaic.
Often in the shadows, as if to underline an obscure and forgetful role of the past, the gesture is repeated with the automatism forged in the labor of days that have consumed the face and limbs.
It is known that once these women enjoyed a very different social status and one cannot help but know that what I see today is the result of a “commercialization” of society that commodifies individuals.
I consider myself a privileged observer of the condition of others, reviewing and showing beyond the glossy aestheticism is however also a way (the photographer’s only way) of going beyond the observer’s impotence.

Il lavoro, la fatica, l’ambiente insalubre in cui vivono le donne di Myanmar ( ex Birmania), sono il tema del mio viaggio fotografico in quella terra.
Un tema che si è imposto con tutta la drammaticità degli sguardi apparentemente impassibili di donne che paiono eterne figure di un mosaico esotico ed enigmatico.
Spesso nell’ombra, come a sottolineare un ruolo oscuro ed immemore del passato, il gesto si ripete con l’automatismo forgiato nel travaglio di giorni che hanno consumato il volto e le membra.
Si sa che un tempo queste donne godettero uno status sociale ben diverso e non si può far a meno di sapere che quello che vedo oggi è il risultato di una “commercializzazione” della società che mercifica gli individui.
Mi ritengo un osservatore privilegiato della condizione altrui, rivedere e mostrare oltre l’estetismo patinato è però anche un modo (il solo modo del fotografo) di andare oltre l’impotenza dell’osservatore.
