Kayar is a village on the Grande Cote Senegalese, with a historical tradition that has always been linked to fishing.

Here, every day, the sea marks the rhythm of life.

Visiting the village I perceived a particular atmosphere, almost paradoxical between the suspension of the moments before the arrival of the catch and the frenzy that is created when the boats touch land. It seems to live in a time suspended between the moment where everything happens quickly and chaotically and the contemplative, almost melancholic dimension of waiting glances, perhaps full of expectations and hopes for the future. perhaps jealous of a historical memory that here seems to have no room for unexpected changes. or maybe just transported away from the waves. as do Kayar boats.

Il tempo di Kayar

kayar è un villaggio  sulla Grande cote senegalese, con una tradizione storica legata da sempre alla pesca.

Qui, ogni giorno, il mare scandisce il ritmo della vita.

Visitando il villaggio ho percepito un’atmosfera particolare ,quasi paradossale tra la sospensione dei momenti precedenti all’arrivo del pescato e la frenesia che si crea quando le barche toccano terra. Sembra di vivere in un tempo sospeso tra il momento dove tutto accade rapidamente e caoticamente  e la dimensione contemplativa, quasi malinconica degli sguardi in attesa , forse carichi di aspettative e speranze per il futuro..forse gelosi di una  memoria storica che qui sembra non dover lasciare spazio a cambiamento inattesi.. o forse semplicemente trasportati lontano dalle onde..come fanno le barche di Kayar .
