Armenian Easter 

In Armenia in 303 A.D. the first Christian National Church was founded. The Armenian Apostolic Church is an autonomous church with sung rites and crosses carved in stone. Religion is based on a deeply felt and practiced faith, strongly conservative and intensely ritualistic.

Known as Zetik, Easter is one of the most heartfelt holidays of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

I made this journey during the Easter period in search of the link between the spirit and the earth, which passes through participatory rituals and religious practices that bind man to the common feeling of the divine.

The Sunday Holy Mass in the Echmiatsin Cathedral, in its majestic chorality, shows an unexpected sense of welcome enclosed in the conservative appearance.

The liturgy thus appears as a safe haven for sailors who will land there. 

Going then to discover the liturgy of fire, one then discovers the meaning of light. On Holy Saturday the fire is blessed, the Paschal candle is lit: the symbol of light.

Fire is the supreme expression of the triumph of light over darkness, of life over death.

Armenian Easter  

In Armenia nel 303 d.C. fu fondata la prima Chiesa Nazionale Cristiana. L’Apostolica Armena è una chiesa autonoma con riti cantati e croci scolpite nella pietra. La religione si basa su una fede molto sentita e praticata, fortemente conservatrice e intensamente ritualistica.

Conosciuta come Zetik, la Pasqua è una delle festività più sentite della Chiesa Apostolica Armena.

Ho fatto questo viaggio nel periodo della Pasqua alla ricerca del legame tra lo spirito e la terra, che passa attraverso rituali partecipati e pratiche religiose che legano l’uomo al comune sentire del divino.

La santa messa della domenica nella cattedrale Echmiatsin, nella sua maestosa coralità, mostra un inaspettato senso di accoglienza racchiuso nell’apparenza conservatrice.

La liturgia appare così come un porto sicuro per naviganti che vi approderanno. 

Andando poi alla scoperta della liturgia del fuoco si scopre poi il significato della luce. Il sabato santo si benedice il fuoco, si accende il cero pasquale: il simbolo della luce.

Il fuoco è la somma espressione del trionfo della luce sulle tenebre, della vita sulla morte.
