India, fairy tales and poems

Every time I think of India I feel enveloped by fairy tales and poems… An Indian proverb states that it takes three lifetimes to understand India. In this country, in my opinion, nothing is as it seems.

The first impact with India is, for many travelers, strong, almost unbearable: dazzling lights, impregnating smells, situations that are incomprehensible by logic.

Then your senses get used to it, you see and perceive everything, even things you didn’t imagine could reach your mind, and you will never get out of it.

I have traveled to India several times, in the big cities I have seen uncontrolled, fast and radical changes, but in the villages and in the countryside I have always found the people, the situations and the eternal atmosphere of traditions.

In India you are constantly assailed by sensations and emotions that give rise to questions….”the next time I come I will not forget and I will be prepared”… It will not be like that but I will certainly be overwhelmed and renewed by the incredible energy in which I will be immersed, and the problem will not be to understand India but how to consider the rest of the world after having lived it….

…except to be assailed by the doubt of having imagined everything and having traveled inside one of the many fairy tales.

 India, favole e poesie

Ogni volta che penso all’India mi sento avvolto da favole e poesie… Un proverbio indiano afferma che ci vogliono tre vite per comprendere l’India. In questo Paese, a mio parere, niente è come sembra.

Il primo impatto con l’India è, per molti viaggiatori,  forte, quasi insopportabile: luci abbaglianti, odori impregnanti, situazioni incomprensibili per logica.

Poi i tuoi sensi si abituano, vedi e percepisci tutto, anche cose che non immaginavi potessero arrivare alla tua mente, e non ne uscirai più.

Ho viaggiato in India diverse volte, nelle grandi città ho visto cambiamenti incontrollati,veloci e radicali, ma nei villaggi e nelle campagne ho sempre ritrovato le persone, le situazioni e l’ atmosfera eterna delle tradizioni.

In India si viene continuamente assaliti da sensazioni ed emozioni che fanno scaturire domande….”la prossima volta che verrò non dimenticherò e sarò preparato”…

Non sarà così ma certamente sarò travolto e rinnovato dalla incredibile energia in cui sarò immerso, e il problema non sarà capire l’India ma come considerare il resto del mondo dopo averla vissuta…

….salvo essere assaliti dal dubbio di avere immaginato tutto e di avere viaggiato dentro ad una delle tante favole.
