Lorenzo Savoini – The Lusitanians

The Lusitanians” is a black and white visual exploration that woos the complex soul of Lisbon, eternally suspended between the monumentality of its history and the intimacy of its alleys.

The story opens with the amazement of the large spaces and iconic symbols, such as the Cristo Rei and the 25 de Abril Bridge, which define the horizon of the white city.

Entering the urban heart, life pulsates in the passage of the characteristic trams, as in the solemnity of the students in their black cloaks and in the moments of unexpected vitality and irony in the parks between the city monuments.

Gradually, however, behind the blinding light, a vein of introspection and solitude emerges, which finally slides towards saudade, that typically Portuguese melancholy evoked by the mists of the Tagus and the silent docks.

The emotional journey finds its climax in the night of Lisbon, where sadness is transformed into poignant beauty through the fado ritual and the passionate singing that resonates in the half-light.

Old poets prepare the new day, between café and vinho tinto.

The Lusitanians
